• Connor Coleman

Connor finished Osborne School last year, with an ambition to enter the Construction Industry as a Labourer. Connor was initially shy and reserved in class, and when we were put into another lockdown, we did not see Connor in class for a further 3 or 4 months, due to a family member being classified as extremely vulnerable. Despite this difficulty, Connor had a good online attendance and presence and was determined to give all of the learning a go, despite struggling initially due to his learning difficulties. Where Connor really excelled in attendance and motivation, was in his work placement, sourced at Morgan Sindall, at Shepherds Down School, where they were building an additional four classrooms and an extended dining hall. It was an excellent first taste experience of a construction site for Connor, as the site was relatively small he could easily navigate it, as well as get familiar with several of the workers there. Morgan Sindall were impressed at Connor’s willingness to work hard and do the basics, especially considering he did not have a CSCS card at the time.

They were so happy with Connor, that they have decided to invest further in him, by funding his CSCS card training. In addition he is also completing a Health and Safety course, that is a requirement before he goes on site as a labourer. At present, Connor is studying to take these qualifications in August/September time.”
